It is New Zealand’s premier tourist resort and, because of this, the centre has many restaurants, bars, cafes and facilities that are open 24 hours. It also has winter, summer, spring and autumn festivals that attract visitors from all over the world. It is known as the adventure capital of the world, with many outdoor activities available; such as bungy jumping, jetboating, skydiving, hiking, white water rafting, paragliding, mountain biking and many more. In winter, June to October, it is New Zealand’s premier ski resort with Coronet Peak, the Remarkables, Snowpark, Waiorau Nordic Ski centre, Cardrona and Treble Cone ski fields close by. People come from all over the world, including many international ski & snowboard teams and professional, to practise their skills at this time of year.
Our school has a family atmosphere - and we treat each student like a member of our family. The school was opened in 1990. Depending on the season we have 4 - 8 qualified and experienced teachers. There are 4 - 8 classes, elementary to advanced, with an average of 8 students per class and a maximum of 12. In the low season we have 35 - 45 students and in the high season 50 - 70 students. The school is situated in the town of Mount Maunganui, very close to shops, post office, banks and cafes. It is only a few minutes walk to beautiful, safe beaches. We have free email, internet and wireless LAN for students, as well as a small library/study room, kitchen, and barbeque facilities
